Peter Tägtgren?Mikael Hedlund?Lars Szöke?I know what your thinking...this has to be Hypocrisy right?Wrong! This is The Abyss!Formed by the members of Hypocrisy in order to experiment more with each member playing a different instrument from that which the play in Hypocrisy.Szöke whos normally on drums in Hypocrisy plays guitar while Tägtgren plays drums and bass as apposed to vocals and guitar which leaves Helund on guitar and vocal duties though we'd normally see him on bass in Hypocrisy. The Abyss are indeed very talented as this album is one of the better black metal albums in my opinion.I really dunno what else to say other than this album fuckin rocks![9/10]-Kevin Cole
Great musicians come together to form a sort of super group of Swedish members. Theres only one problem...I cant stand the vocals! It sounds like Johan is trying all he can to get out those deep death metal vocals but just cant do it.The music is great,I cant deny them of that.Sadly,I feel Johan held them back a lot on this album.I guess better luck next time guys.[6/10]-Kevin Cole
Oh my fuckin god is this shit fuckin heavy.Beautifully done hardcore. This 4 song EP is catchy as it gets and has some of the best breakdowns and riffs I've heard in a very long time from the hardcore scene. The vocals are great, harsh yet not so much that you cant make out whats being said. That can actually be said about both of these bands! At first when I got this I just became addicted to the 2nd track,"We Are The Pale Horse"(Amra Angelus),now Im stuck on the 4th,"Death Disguised As Salvation"(Until The End).Such good material.[9/10]-Kevin Cole
The Assistant feature members from the late You And I. They pick up where they left off. With driving guitar riffs maniacal drumming and franticly screamed vocals. As the CD plays you start to notice a subtle yet sincere atmosphere to it all. The song “Five Year Old Mentality” comes out of left field and starts to rocks in a poppy sort of way. This is an emotional release in general. Just pick it up, you won’t be sorry.-Shaun Luu
ANO NANTOZ KAKODAIMONOZ!Thats the first thing you'll hear when you pop this disc into your player.I've got no clue what the hell that means but its alright with me because this album starts out crushing from the start.Good black metal from god only knows where. Its good to see Dwell records has actually put out good music other than the fifteen billion so called "tribute" albums made by unknown bands who will only butcher the songs the rest of us have come to love.I'll admit there are some points in the album where things seem to drone on for longer than needed but over all, still a good album.[8/10]-Kevin Cole
This album opens up and just tears right into you from the start!Great hardcore band straight out of Syracuse,NY.This album is literally impossible to find now but being that its so good,I had to review it.Great break downs and screaming vocals that just obliterate your ear drums yet leave them begging for more.Just under 30 minutes long with 7 tracks.[8/10]-Kevin Cole
This record is so good. Take the more metal parts of 18 Visions; add keyboards, some Swedish style riffing, and breakdowns so heavy that they will “break your freakin’ neck” and you have Bleeding Through. Now on to lyrical content; It’s from the heart. My favorite on here is “Shadow Walker”, lyrically and musically. It deals with an abusive father, and that’s just it…the lyrics are painfully cathartic and emotional, I love them. Buy this NOW!-Shaun Luu
It doesnt get much better than this shit right here.Hardcore kids playing metal and its oh sooooo good.Melodic riffs, keyboards and demonic vocals from Eighteen Vision's Brandan Schieppati form together to create what has to be one of the better albums of 2001.Theres not much that can be said to discribe this ablum other than saying its fuckin great.Pick up this album if your lucky enough to find it anywhere.Theyre amazing live as well![9/10]-Kevin Cole
Cannibal Corpse comes out thrashing at the first thing they see with this album. This being the third album in which George "Corpsegrinder" Fisher has appeared and hes still making this band look better each and every step of the way.Its this simple...Barnes was great in his own right. He was the most brutal thing out at the time but come on!Fisher blows him away with his speed and vocal range.Gut wrenching performance on this album as always.[8/10]-Kevin Cole
Ahhh...how to describe Catheter?Sludge-core?There not exactly the easiest of bands to describe, which is a good thing because it means theyre doing something different than most of the other metal heads out there who tend to keep rehashing the same old shit over and over again. One thing that really makes this band stand out as different is the fact that they have two singers. Not just two singers, but two female singers! One who delivers a harsh, brutal vocal style while you can hear the other singing more melodic and cleanly.Good stuff...good stuff indeed.[8/10]-Kevin Cole
Stoners have invaded grindcore my friends.I cant even begin to descibe this album. Its total chaos and chaos is good.Thats about all I can say.Oh yeah....nice sampling from the movie Gummo too(thanks Greg).[8/10]-Kevin Cole
CODC are one of the most intense grind bands around today. This being there second full length, I had many expectations. Let me just say I was not let down at all. Ultra fast blast beats, technical guitar, and EXTREMELY low guttural death growls is what you find on here. The lyrics have some what of a political feel to them, dealing with environmental issues. CTRL*ALT*DELETE is so scary, you will be afraid that you will spontaneously combust after listening to it. “We all work together as, THE GENOCIDE MACHINE………” Go get this you scum.-Shaun Luu
Humm...Im not really sure what to make of this album. Its really good for what it is. I dont want to label it as "New metal" since it really isnt.Theyre are very noticeable influences by Tool which is never a bad thing. If your looking for something brutal then this isnt for you but its still a really good album. The choruses are catchy and the songs dont get boring which of course is good.If your a fan of Tool pick this up.Even if your not then it still wouldnt be a bad idea to go out and check this band out.[8/10]-Kevin Cole
At last, the new Converge record. And it’s oh so good. Everything about this record is good. The layout is super thick and very artistic, and it even comes with a slip cover too. Most importantly the music: This album is comprised of 12 amazing songs. It seems that this band has more of a grind influence this time around. “Jane Doe” the albums closing track is a whopping 12 minutes long! It, in my opinion displays only SOME of this bands amazing talent. This was the most anticipated record of the year, and I’m glad it didn’t disappoint. Their time with Steve Austin has really rubbed of in the music, and that’s not a bad thing. “Run on Girl, run on..”-Shaun Luu
C.O.C. goes southern rock and does it damn well.Clean My Wounds and Without Wings are simply great tracks. The whole album is done rather nicely but those two stand out in my mind as being favorites. If you love old school southern rock, stoner rock or even Black Sabbath, check out this release.[7/10]-Kevin Cole
CIC has always been a band I loved. This release doesn’t disappoint. Child As Audience is far more political then anything they have ever done. Included with the CD comes a 200 page book, in 4 different languages. It explains things far beyond your intelligence so just buy it if you want to read it. And for the music, it has gotten more complex then their ideas. Ripping technical grindcore with lots of thrash that will beat you like the LAPD and leave you for dead.-Shaun Luu
No! This is not At The Gates! This is Darkest Hour! This record plays like an At The Gates B-sides and unreleased album though. Which is not bad at all. Completely ripping and heavy metal that doesn’t let up is what you’ll find here. “The Last Dance Massacre” has a very dramatic ending which is sure to please. Props to Victory for such a good release.-Shaun Luu
How is it that the whole world doesnt know of this band by now?Melodic Black Metal bliss!I know absolutely nothing at all about this band other than what I've been able to pick up from this album. Some of the best melodic riffage ever to be played accompanied by powerful vocals and the occasional female background vocals and God are they ever beautiful.I've heard them compared to Cradle Of Filth but personally I dont see it all that much. This is the band CoF wish they were![9/10]-Kevin Cole
Boston Hardcore at its best.In my opinion at least and hey,Im reviewing so your opinion doesnt matter. If you had an opinion you probably wouldnt be reading this now anyway would you? This album holds only 7 songs, the last of which is a bonus track. Personally the bonus is one of my favorites on the whole album though the whole CD is great.Screamed out hardcore vocals with some nice clean melodic vocals thrown in on occasion make a good combination.[8/10]-Kevin Cole
I guess you could say this is Earth Crisis's major breakthrough album.Yeah they were pretty big before but hey, every hardcore fan owns this album right?Good stuff.Favorite tracks of mine off this release are Filthy Hands To Famished Mouths and One Against All.There isnt much to be said about this album since basicly everyone knows all about this band by now.[8/10]-Kevin Cole
This is one of those albums that make you think "This would be great....if it were anyone else".This album is Earth Crisis's final studio effort with fresh material and maybe they knew this when going into recording because it seems they went all out on the risk factor here.Don't get me wrong. This album is great, its just not what a diehard eXc fan expects to hear from one of hardcores most influential bands. Some have said Karl raps on this album.I wouldnt go as far as to call it rapping but it is a different vocal approach at some points than what one is used to hearing from the man behind the mic.Of course,he hasnt left his roots behind as much of the vocals are similar to that of the past Earth Crisis releases. With all of that taken into consideration, this album still is loaded with energy and great songs as well.I dont think I could find a band song on the album. Its sad to see such a great bands history come to an end though. At least they did it while still on top.[8/10]-Kevin Cole
This Texas band plays fast spastic hardcore. Some would want to call this grind, but it’s not. Its not bad, its just not grind. 7 songs that will leave you wanting more. Its fast and moshy. Nice layout too. That’s it.-Shaun Luu
Im a very important person.I've acquired a genetically altered handshake capable of speeds up to 30MPH!How can you not love an album with such fucked up lyrics...Not bad lyrics...just fucked up.Very fucked up.If you've been lucky enough to see these guys live then you know that theyre probably one of the top band in hardcore to witness live. Its this simple...if you like hardcore and you dont own this album Im assuming you either A)Live under a rock.B)Are a broke mother fucker like I usually am or C) Your a complete moron!.Hopefully you fall under B or even A.Ha...anyway...pick this album up..it wont disapoint.[9/10]-Kevin Cole
Nice layout first of all. It’s like roots or something. The layout is all backwards looking. The music is all whacky. Like imagine Dillinger Escape Plan playing Coalesce songs and that’s what The End sounds like. It is so good. I highly recommend this. This record is probably the best release of 2001. No lie. Do what ever you have to do to get this. 11 out of 10. The End is the best band. Keep a sharp eye out for them.-Shaun Luu
Well heres something a bit different from what we usually have here on Underground United.Factory 81 are a rap-core band out of Detroit and suprisingly...this album isnt bad at all.The rapping isnt your typical "homie G" shit talking about bitches, slammin back a 40 oz. or the "bling bling".Think older Rage Against The Machine mixed in with Deftones,Tool, some hardcore influences and you'll come up with something similar to Factory 81.The music all has a pretty fresh sound and the breakdowns are pretty interesting as well. Now I know I said this is rap-core but dont think thats all Nate Wallace can do while behind the mic.He has a decent scream and amazingly enough, on a few songs uses his voice in a way similar to Lane Stanly of Alice In Chains, making his voice part of the music instead of just being used to spew out lyrics. It all comes together to create a very good album. Not something I'd usually enjoy but somehow,it all just works.[8/10]-Kevin Cole
This is beyond description. There is NOTHING that sounds like this. It’s Mike Patton and company covering the scores to classic movies. Just buy it..its’s odd ball shit. King Buzzo is in this band, so that should be another incentive to buy this.-Shaun Luu
Syracuse has done it again.Another amazing band out of Syracuse,Far From Alive blend melodic metal riffs and hardcore breakdowns to bring you to your knees. These kids are like 16 or some shit too!Its fuckin nuts. The only weak point that I can see is the vocals.Theyre not bad but the kid sounds really young.Check them out if your lucky enough to get the chance.[8/10]-Kevin Cole
For everyone out there...yes...Found Dead Hanging does feature Keith Allen from Order Of Deceit,The August Prophesy and even Hellfest fame. With that said it should be a given that you now know that this isnt going to be some emo inspired hardcore like a lot of whats been put out all around the states lately.I'll come right out and say it.Found Dead Hanging arnt my choice for band of the year but still they hold their own and do what they do,very well.Noisecore at its best, just isnt my thing exactly I guess.Either way, still gotta respect what theyre doing.-Kevin
Fucking crazy! This demo is so good! Hex is nuts. Musically, I compare them to Damnation with Chris Colohan on vocals. I am not big on solos but whatever works for them is just fine with me. The breakdowns are SOOO HEAVY! This is a 9 out of 10. Oh, the members are from Darker Day Tomorrow, Spark Lights The Friction, Beta Minus Mechanic, Hermon Dekalb, Set In Motion, Another Victim and Human Shield. There’s a little nostalgia for you.-Shaun Luu
Great metal riffage, crashing drums and a vocalist who anything but mellow, make up the band Godbelow.Hints of Metallica can also be found thrown into the mix. This album begins with a soft little acoustic piece and just simply bust your head right open when the second track kicks in!A few catchy choruses here and there only help to add to this album as a whole.A good album for both metal and hardcore fans alike.[7/10]-Kevin Cole
Coming out of Australia is Halo. They have this very odd sound to themselves. It’s “noisecore” in its purest form. Not like Merzbow but with actual instruments. Kind of like Disembowelment meets Merzbow. It has all sorts of sludgy parts and also all sorts of doom parts with static sounding noise and machine sounding things on it. A good portion of the disc is improvised. A more evil, less structured Godflesh comes to mind, IT DOES NOT SOUND LIKE GODFLESH THOUGH! Only reminiscent to them sort of. Halo is comprised of two guys also. A noise fans wet dream.-Shaun Luu
Heavy ass death metal. It’s so crazy. These guys will out smoke you, out drink you and out thrash you. Keep a new pair of underwear near while listening to this album, it will seriously make you shit your pants. The music sounds like Suffocation and “Tomb Of The Mutilated” era Cannibal Corpse with thick fucking breakdown. Not for the queasy. 91/2 out of 10. Creepy layout too.-Shaun Luu
This band in my opinion, truly embrace the title of “spazzcore”. This EP is a hit and run. Harkonen belt out 4 songs that will leave you floored and then pick pocketed. Not much else….Oh when I saw this band their drummer was away for personal reasons, so in order to finish their tour they took all the drum tracks from the studio and loaded them into a sampler and used that. They had a blow-up doll too. Nuts.-Shaun Luu
I know a lot of kids out there hate these guys simply because theyre a more popular and known name than most other hardcore bands but this album is fuckin great.Just pure aggression and hate. The only problem with the album is its length. Its somewhere around and 25 minute mark with 14 songs in all.Songs which are very catchy I might add.[9/10]-Kevin Cole
Good depressing “Love Metal”. Like Bon Jovi meets The Cure. Good stuff. Go and get this. Includes a CD-ROM. Bam loves this group, so go and get this you little dirt bags who sweat “Jackass” and are fucking poseurs. EAT SHIT MTV.-Shaun Luu
SICK!Just what the local (315) Syracuse scene has been waiting for.The Holy Hour do something a bit different from most of what you'll find coming out of the area.Hardcore kids playing a black and death metal mix, even a acoustic break.5 songs coming in at exactly 12 minutes for this demo.Great production so you know this band is serious. If they stick to it,you'll be hearing from them soon Im sure.Look for them to possibly play the upcoming Hellfest 2002!-Kevin
From NYC comes this amazing band. 5 songs of acoustic depression. Part Radiohead part godspeedyoublackemperor, yet not as drawn out. Pick this up and cry.-Shaun Luu
Punk,Hardcore and Metal all rolled into one.Brutal hardcore with a few punkish riffs thrown in here and there for good measure. The vocal delivery often reminds me of Lou Koller of Sick Of It All though its faintly there,I still see a hint of it all though Garcia's deep vocals. As for metal in this band, one song distinctly shows it in my eyes.Track 8 "Endless Pain" though there are other touches of metal all throughout this album.I'll admit that it took a few listens for me to get into this album at all but once I did I found its rather good.[8/10]-Kevin Cole
Ahhh...Final Chapter...or at least it was supposed to have been. This was set to be the last ever Hypocrisy studio album but after feedback from their fans and the responce they got at the Wacken Festival they decided to stick around.Im glad they did but if they hadnt have, this would have still been a great album to leave the world with. The bands never disapointed me yet and with the genius of Tagtgren behind the mic, keys and guitar, not to mention the helm when in production,I cant see them ever doing so.Melodic yet pretty brutal at times.Check out the song Adjusting The Sun to see what I mean.Great stuff![9/10]-Kevin Cole
Power metal at its very best.Thats what you get from Iced Earth every time you take a listen to one of their albums and with Horror Show you get the best of Iced Earth as well.Iced Earth are truthfully about the only power metal band I can even listen to without wanting to go and shoot the singer in throat just to get him to shut up.With Iced Earth I find the vocals arnt at all annoying. Many said this was the album of the year for 2001.Im not sure if its the album of the year or not but its damn close if it isnt. With songs all writen about horror movies classics, how could you go wrong?[10/10]-Kevin Cole
First of all let me say this...I dont care what anyone says about Dissection and how all other modern Swedish bands with the Gothenburg sound are ripping them off.Dissection are great in their own right though,so dont get me wrong there.Ok so on to In Flames.I've always loved this band.Probably the most known band of its form of metal and theres a reason for it all.Great melodic riffs, strong vocals, well placed keyboards, catchy lyrics and a few acoustic parts thrown in to top it all off.Fans of Iron Maiden and Shadows Fall are sure to love this band as well as the album.[8/10]-Kevin Cole
Pure shit!Whiny emo with horrible lyrics,a singing who sounds like hes on the brink of death and just all around a boring band. The only thing worth listening to are the opening seconds to "This Is Over" and the instrumental (piano) track, "Hum"-Kevin
Simply brilliant progressive metal.Mostly clean melodic vocals but this album also has some gut wrenching death metal growls thrown in for good measure as well. This band reminds me of Shadows Fall in the way that they arrange their songs with the different vocal styles as well as using a lot of acoustic guitars as well. This album is basically flawlessly done.Great art work, great production and great music and songs.Holding Onto Emptiness is probably my favorite track on this album.[9/10]-Kevin Cole
This band is 2/3 music and 1/3 vocals. Off time, semi grindcore, semi Dillinger Escape Plan, a little drawn out at times, and basically pretty good. Now the vocals are a WHOLE other story. One word, STRANGE. He sounds like a 1920’s gangster. “Yeah, see! You got nothing on me copper! Nothing see!” Like the Mugsy from the Bug’s Bunny cartoons.-Shaun Luu
Canadian grind metal. Technical. Fast. A less metal version of Suffocation. High pitched vocals. Even Elton John fans could get into this. Garren has left the band since this recording, but its still a great album.-Shaun Luu
This one of my favorite bands of all time. Greg Pier is a musical genius. He plays all the instruments. These are some of the best songs he’s ever written. Sad, up-tempo, down-tempo, rock and roll. His lyrics are amazing. They are personal and beautiful. Now he’s got a full band. They are all great. Please get in contact with him and purchase some of his music or go on MP3.COM or email him at gtpier@hotmail.com. You will NOT be disappointed. Go and buy this NOW.-Shaun Luu
Seattle’s murdercore’s last album, that serves as a “Good-Bye”. A six song EP with some of the band’s best stuff. “364 Days” being my favorite on here, makes this EP for me. Includes a CD-ROM of the song “Idle Hands”. Keyboards…..whoopy!!-Shaun Luu
Nemesis consist of ex-members of the Syracuse sXe icons,Earth Crisis and Santa Sangre.Dont expect to find some new breed of hardcore coming from Nemesis. Is it good?Yeah...is it heavy? It has its moments but for the most part, take Earth Crisis's Slither, give Karl back his screaming that he used prior to Slither and add in more rock along with some backing vocals and you'll find yourself with a whole new band.Good stuff but again, nothing mindblowing.-Kevin
In Flames alter ego grind band and their Canadian. That’s it. Oh and their really good. You probably won’t be able to find this. Christ, I am tired.-Shaun Luu
My expectations were extremely high for this album. When I got this I was in awe. It is so different sounding vocally. They actually sing on the record. There is still screaming but only “When Needed”. Musically its more melodic, droned, and depressed. Its still got that Neurosis feel to it. You know the one, creepy and haunting. Good, yet different. It is an odd experience.-Shaun Luu
Hardcore with very raspy vocals. Not much I can say here though I wish there was.Three songs in 7 minutes time. Its nothing special but it doesnt suck either. The production isnt what it could be so I think that may be part of whats holding this band back.Of course this is only a demo so none of it can be expected to be perfect but then again,a great demo is always sure to get a band some real attention real fast. If you want something fresh and new, dont look to One Nation Under, still though, its decent stuff[6/10]-Kevin Cole
POTL are INSANE! Ultra fast grindcore. This drummer is so insane. The guitar work is so precise, it’s absolutely mind boggling. You can’t comprehend this the first time through. This release does not disappoint at all. It’s like getting beat with a phone, over and over again. I heard the guitar player is a half-way house now……..wow. BUY THIS NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!-Shaun Luu
Fucking amazing grindcore that shreds and thrashes like a mofo. This is the latest full length from this VA band. It does not disappoint at all. 22 tracks in all make this record. Awesome intro and outro. “This is beautiful, this is art….” BUY NOW..10/10 SOOOO GOOD!-Shaun Luu
Poison The Well are back with a VERY much anticipated album.Im sure if your on this site that you have heard of this band by now and if not, then you probably dont belong here.Posion The Well have become on of the biggest names in hardcore and with their album prior to this I can see why. While this album is still very good I dont think it lives up to my full expectations.PTW seem to have drifted off a little bit and picked up a bit of a Deftones like sound. Its still Poison The Well but just a bit different here and there.Anyway its still good stuff.[8/10]-Kevin Cole
These four songs are unreleased, well actually two of them are going to be on a split with the Grey AM. But that hasn’t come out yet. If you haven’t heard Ruined In A Day, they are emotional hardcore. Plain and simple. They’re not “rock”, they’re hardcore. “Armour and Honour” being my favorite jam on this, it is a 9 minute long voyage into all things “emo” and all things “prog”. Like if King Crimson and Quicksand made an album together. Hehe….ex members of WARCRY, you rikey?-Shaun Luu
Death Grind Death metal..you know the style. Its good. Nothing amazing but still well executed and punishing nonetheless. Mediocre at best. Typical Willowtip stuff.-Shaun Luu
This band is crazy. Featuring former member of notorious street gang “The Family” on vocals, this band will sure to please anyone. You like metal? Its got metal. You like hardcore? Its got hardcore. You like emo? Its got emo. A solid release all around. They are tough guys who play real pussy music. www.savingthrow.com is were they reside on the net, so go drop them a line. Tell them Dave send you, and also bring a Neurosis record too. They’ll love that. “He said you better not try and steal his fake ass gold chains..” Pick this up, you won’t be disappointed. -Shaun Luu
Gothenburg metal in the states?Yes,its true.Hailing from Boston Mass.,Shadows Fall seem to blend everything you could love about metal into a single band.Death metal and cleanly sung vocals over top of melodic riffs and acoustic parts as well. Im simply in love with this band as well as this album.I've been lucky enough to see the band perform live 4 times at this point and every time they just keep getting better and better.I first got this album back in April of 2000 when it came out,and Im still listening to it on a regular basis even though its only a few days away from 2002.If you dont own this album, pick it up ASAP![10/10]-Kevin Cole
Take one part Pig Destroyer, one part Agrophobic Nosebleed, and one part Anal Cunt.Mix and shake well. Then put it all inside the head of an Asian kid whos just simply out of his fuckin mind and you'll find yourself with The Shaun Luu Experience,as well as the sudden urge to break, kill and destroy. This has gotta be the most fucked up album I've ever listened to,and yet, thats not really a bad thing.Live, this kid bashes his own head in and makes sures to leave the stage bloodied. We have some samples to download but you'll never get the real feel of the album unless you buy it.Fuck,I cant even rate this disk.-Kevin Cole
This album is a joke right?Theres only one track worth listening to one this whole fuckin album and even that isnt all to good.Chris Barnes is totally unintelligible as always and the rest of the band are as pathetic as ever.Fuck,I dont know what to really say about this other than its a pure waste of space in my CD collection.Oh yeah, what the hell is Barnes trying to do with his screechy ass high pitched bullshit? Does he really think he can pull it off?God,its awful.Pathetic vocals, pathetic lyrics and all over top of very shitty music.I give this a rating of two for two reasons. One point just because its metal and the second point is because the album has Ice T doing guest vocals on a track. The track itself sucks but fuck,Ice T is the man![2/10]-Kevin Cole
Ok yeah so this isnt "real" metal in many peoples eyes.At least the band is taking a step in the right direction with their 2nd major lable release.Heavier and faster than their 1st release. The lyrics are pretty cheesy and even cliche.I find any band that needs 9 members to do a 5 man job pretty pathetic myself.Whats left to say?Oh yeah...LOSE THE MASK![6/10]-Kevin Cole
Sounds Like DEP. Crazy fast technical metal with lotsa breakdowns and blasts. Much different than their Solid State release (that one being my favorite). Good record all around. The song titles remind me of 18 Visions. Such as: “This ain’t Vegas and you ain’t Elvis”. It’s OK. I like the layout to this album too.-Shaun Luu
With former members of Dimmu Borgir,Old Mans Child and Satyricon most would figure you couldnt really go wrong. While Susperia doesnt blow me away by any means they still hold their own pretty well. Not much can be said on this album. Its nothing that will amaze though it doesnt suck.If your into semi atmospheric(some of the time) black metal then this is probably for you.[7/10]-Kevin Cole
Very well put together death metal out of WI of all places!Something like Deicide if they were to have two vocalist, one high, one low. Some of the more catchy riffs and lyrics I've heard from a band of this type is some time.Fuck, the layout is hilarious so theres some extra brownie points there as well.Over all I'd say a great death demo, should be interesting to see if these guys get signed.Looking for them on Relapse possibly.
The most talked about band in hardcore. Emotional and driving. Its good stuff, its not incredible but still, it can stand up on its own. Every time I see this band live there is always a bunch of fifteen year olds crying and singing along….sheesh. Wah, Wah, Wah, go cry…..Morons.-Shaun Luu
Rich Hoak from Brutal Truth is in this band. Basically a more stripped down, raw Brutal Truth. Funny song titles and lyrics. Such as “Kill The Jocks And Eat Their Brains” and or from “Mothernaturefucker” “………..You shit were you eat..” Get this for shits and giggles.-Shaun Luu
GOOD GOOD GOOD. GO AND BUY THIS NOW! THE ONLY THING THAT TIES WITH “THE END” IS UPHEAVAL. AMAZING RECORD! FAST AND FURIOUS DEATH METAL WITH HIGH PITCHED VOCALS. I LOVE THIS REOCRD. IS NOW ONE OF MY FAVORITES OF ALL TIME! LYRICS DEAL WITH RELIGIOUS AND POLITICAL THINGS. VERY PHILOSOPHICAL. GO AND GET THIS. ALSO VERY INTELLIGENT. OH MY GOD..JUST GO AND BUY THIS NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!-Shaun Luu
The heaviest, most apocalyptic doom band ever! It is so slow, heavy and stoned you will feel buzzed after listening to this. If you like doom then you’ll love this. If you hate doom, then do not even look at this. Its so slow and heavy. Great artwork too.-Shaun Luu
Ex members of the mosh machine, Beyond Fall. Yup. And you can tell too. Breakdowns galore! Heavy hardcore with a slight metal influence, “metalcore’ if you will. It’s not as metal as newer Beyond Fall or Ed Gein but this band will destroy you. That’s it really. Central Square,NY in full effect.-Shaun Luu
Brutal Christian metalcore! This album starts off with a 3 minute and 38 second intro that almost sends listeners into a trance before bursting into Savannah(Which strangly enough is about a porn star). This album doesnt let up much at all till you hit the final track.Im a Zao fan and after hearing this album, its hard to find anything that would make them fall into the "Christian" grouping at all.Either way this album is amazing.Theres not much I can compair this band to so I won't force names upon them that just dont belong. My suggestion is that you just check them out yourself.[9/10]-Kevin Cole
From the ashes of New Day Rising comes Zyon. Musically they sound similar just add keyboard to the mix. Chris’s vocals have lots of range. Lots of melody but also tons of metal, almost seems “indie” at times, but not that much. A powerful release nonetheless. Pick this up. If you never heard NDR, its like this: 1/2 melody and ½ mosh. So you can only imagine what this sounds like…fucking good.-Shaun Luu
